I'm raising money for the British heart foundation for my dear friend Amy.
Amy is riding the horse in the photo, I'm riding the bike, we're on one of our Amy and Vee adventures. This time last year, Amy was a newlywed expecting her first child and we were celebrating her baby shower on a boat in Kingston. Then, absolute tragedy struck a few weeks later, Amy collapsed having suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. She had an emergency C section and brain surgery to stop the bleeding. Baby Skye was delivered safely and is healthy and being cared for by her heroic daddy. Amy took several months to wake from her coma and remains in hospital almost a year later with unknown degree of brain damage. We don't know if she'll talk again or move again.
Fit, healthy, young, just married, expecting her first baby. In a heartbeat, cardiovascular disease can impact someone's life forever. ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANY AGE.
The British heat foundation fund research to help detection, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including stroke. I want to raise money and awareness for the incredible work this charity is doing in the fight against heart and circulatory diseases and stop heartbreak forever. I'm a keen cyclist, but this year, I'll be taking on my longest and toughest ever rides, in 3 events for 3 people I know impacted by heart disease:
> ride London - 100 miles (160km) around London and Essex
> pennine rally - 310 miles (500km) off-road ride from Edinburgh to Manchester
> pure peak grit - 400 miles (645km) ride climbing every road climb in the peak district
